MCEA survives move with zero workplace accidents

After 27 years in our old offices in the Exchange Building, MCEA has moved to 1919 University Ave. W. We're excited to move into an office space that reflects our values as an environmental organization while expanding our ability to collaborate internally and connect with stakeholders across the state. Some major highlights of our new headquarters include:

  • Our building is Energy Star rated with a new solar panel roof. It is located right off the Green Line Light Rail Fairview Station, is next to a bike boulevard (Prior Avenue), and features a bike storage and repair area.

  • Our wonderful architects at Perkins+Will did an amazing job of integrating technology into the design of the office so that MCEA can communicate easily and effectively with partners around the state. Our technological upgrade will save us money and decrease our carbon footprint by allowing staff to collaborate effectively with less travel.

  • Perkins+Will designed a welcoming space with different options for collaborative meetings with our dozens of allies and partners. We worked in partnership with them to intentionally use environmentally-friendly design elements consistent with our brand and values, and inspire our staff, board, and partners to feel pride in our mission and our work.

We wouldn't have been able to seize this opportunity to step into the new century as a nimble and forward-looking force for change without the backing of Perkins+Will and dedicated MCEA supporters like yourself. To show our appreciation and thanks, we invite all of our supporters to two open house events.

Once again, we want to offer a big thank you to our supporters who made special gifts and contributed in-kind services to make this move possible. Thank you to the dozens of businesses and leaders who donated their services, including Perkins+Will who contributed free architectural services, Hennepin Made who contributed free lighting fixtures, Gardner Builders who waived their contractor fee to build out the space, and Atmosphere Commercial Interiors who got us a great deal on high quality, ergonomic (and not to mention good looking) office furniture.

We also want to thank supporters who made a special, additional contribution to cover items we were unable to get donated.

However, we do have some finishing touches left. If you can join this effort please contribute here or call Megan at (651) 287-4870  by May 1.

Join us Wednesday, May 2nd for Water Action Day at the Capitol! This is a day of public action and advocacy to let lawmakers know we care about our water.

This all-day event will include free breakfast and briefings in the morning, both on how to actively engage legislators and on the water issues that we face in Minnesota. Throughout the day, attendees will meet with legislators to ask them to protect our water, and the Clean Water Rally will be held in the Capitol Rotunda at 2:00 pm.
